JALANDHAR, October 23, 2026: A Defence Security Corps employee posted at Adampur in Jalandhar district has died after undergoing treatment at a private hospital for two days, prompting police to examine the circumstances surrounding the case.
The deceased has been identified as Praveen Kumar, around 45 years old and originally from Kathua. He had reportedly joined the Defence Security Corps after retiring from the Indian Air Force and had been posted at Adampur for a considerable period.
According to preliminary information, concern arose after Praveen Kumar did not report for duty. His colleagues began looking for him and later found him unconscious in his room.
He was immediately taken for medical treatment and was admitted to NHS Hospital near Kapurthala Chowk in Jalandhar, where doctors continued treating him for approximately two days. He later died during treatment.
Police have begun examining the circumstances that led to his condition and subsequent death. Statements of people connected with the case are expected to form part of the investigation.
The exact cause of death has not yet been officially established. Medical findings and the post-mortem examination are expected to provide greater clarity before police reach any conclusion.
Initial information circulating around the case has referred to possible personal circumstances, but investigators have not publicly confirmed any specific reason behind the incident. Any such explanation would therefore be premature until supported by evidence.
Praveen Kumar is survived by his wife and two children. The incident has caused concern among colleagues and people associated with him at Adampur.
Police are expected to examine all relevant circumstances and complete the necessary legal formalities before deciding whether any further action is required.
Further details are likely to emerge after the medical report and police inquiry are completed.
