One of the standout results came in the Under-21 girls’ kho-kho competition, where HMV College secured first position after an impressive campaign.
Devi Sahai Senior Secondary Girls School finished second in the category, with both teams putting up determined performances during the competition.
The district-level games have brought together players from schools, colleges and sports institutions across Jalandhar, giving young athletes an opportunity to compete in an organised sporting environment and demonstrate their abilities.
Kho-kho contests attracted particular interest as players relied on quick movement, coordination, stamina and teamwork to gain an advantage over their opponents.
Competitions in judo, football and cricket also witnessed enthusiastic participation, with athletes competing for top positions in their respective categories.
The broader objective of Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan is to encourage greater participation in sports, identify promising talent at the grassroots level and provide athletes with opportunities to progress through higher levels of competition.
For many participants, the district stage serves as an important platform to test their skills against strong competition and gain valuable match experience.
HMV College’s victory in the U-21 girls’ kho-kho category adds another sporting achievement for the Jalandhar institution, which has an established physical education and sports programme covering a wide range of disciplines.
The performances at the district-level games also reflected growing participation by girls and young women in competitive sport.
With several events and age categories forming part of the competition schedule, more athletes are expected to take the field as the district-level phase of Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan 2026 continues.
The tournament is providing Jalandhar’s emerging players with a platform not only to compete for medals but also to build confidence, discipline, teamwork and experience for future competitions.
