Jalandhar, October 5, 2026: Innocent Hearts College of Education welcomed newly admitted student-teachers as it began the B.Ed. 2026–2028 academic session with an orientation programme designed to introduce students to the college environment, academic structure and responsibilities that will shape their two-year teacher-training journey.
The programme began on a peaceful note with a prayer ceremony seeking blessings for the new academic session.
Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh welcomed the incoming students and introduced them to the history, governing structure and academic culture of the institution.
He also familiarised the newcomers with faculty members and explained the broad scheme of study for the B.Ed. programme.
Students Introduced to Academic Structure
A major part of the orientation focused on helping students understand how the two-year teacher-education programme will function.
The new entrants were briefed about the curriculum, academic expectations, college infrastructure and rules governing their course of study.
Information regarding Guru Nanak Dev University regulations was also shared so that students could begin the programme with a clear understanding of academic procedures and institutional requirements.
The orientation was intended to make the transition into professional teacher education smoother for students coming from different academic backgrounds.
Focus on Safe and Responsible Campus Culture
Assistant Professor Tarunjyoti Kaur addressed the student-teachers on college etiquette and the standards of conduct expected on campus.
Students were encouraged to help maintain an environment that is ragging-free, harassment-free, plastic-free, pollution-free and litter-free.
The message highlighted that professional training involves not only academic achievement but also discipline, social responsibility and respect for others.
As future educators, students were encouraged to practise the same values they would later be expected to promote among their own learners.
Participation Beyond the Classroom Encouraged
The college also introduced students to opportunities available outside regular classroom teaching.
New entrants were encouraged to participate actively in co-curricular activities, NSS programmes and Red Ribbon Club initiatives organised during the B.Ed. course.
Such activities are intended to expose student-teachers to community engagement, social awareness and teamwork while helping them develop communication and leadership skills.
Faculty members explained that teacher education extends beyond textbooks and examinations and requires active participation in social and institutional activities.
Getting Familiar With College Life
The newcomers were taken through different aspects of the college infrastructure and informed about various cells and committees functioning within the institution.
These bodies support students in areas ranging from academics and examinations to grievances, cultural activities and social outreach.
The orientation also gave the newly admitted student-teachers an opportunity to introduce themselves to their classmates and faculty members.
The interaction helped create familiarity among students beginning the new session together.
Principal Highlights College’s Educational Legacy
Dr. Arjinder Singh also briefed students about the academic journey and achievements of the college.
He encouraged them to approach their professional training seriously and make full use of the opportunities available during the two-year programme.
Teacher training, he emphasised, requires a combination of subject knowledge, classroom skills, ethical conduct and a willingness to continuously learn.
The students were encouraged to develop themselves into educators capable of creating a positive impact in schools and society.
Management Encourages New Entrants
Executive Director (Colleges) Aradhana Bowry, along with faculty members, extended best wishes to the newly enrolled students.
They encouraged the student-teachers to pursue their goals with dedication, discipline and commitment throughout the B.Ed. programme.
The message to the new batch focused on making the most of both academic and co-curricular opportunities available during their time at the college.
The orientation concluded with the student-teachers introducing themselves and beginning their first formal interaction with the college community.
With the programme, Innocent Hearts College of Education formally marked the beginning of the 2026–2028 B.Ed. session, combining academic guidance with an emphasis on professional values, campus responsibility and holistic development.
