JALANDHAR, October 23, 2026: Another case of two-wheeler theft has surfaced in Jalandhar, where an Activa parked outside a shop in Shastri Market was allegedly stolen in broad daylight. The incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed in the area, and the vehicle owner has approached Baradari Police seeking action.
The stolen scooter belongs to Rakesh Gupta, a resident of Master Tara Singh Nagar in Civil Lines. Gupta said he had arrived at his shop, Gupta Motor Spare Parts, on the Activa and parked it outside before going inside to attend to his work.
According to Gupta, when he came out of the shop some time later, the Activa was no longer at the spot where he had parked it. After searching the nearby area and failing to locate the vehicle, he checked footage from CCTV cameras installed around the market.
The footage reportedly showed a person approaching the parked Activa and later taking it away from outside the shop. The recording has now become an important piece of information in efforts to identify the person involved.
Gupta subsequently submitted a complaint to Baradari Police Station and shared the available CCTV footage with the authorities. He has requested police to identify the person seen in the recording, recover his scooter and take appropriate legal action.
Police have begun looking into the complaint and are expected to examine CCTV footage from the shop as well as cameras installed along nearby roads to determine the direction in which the stolen vehicle was taken.
Investigators may also compare the footage with information from other recent two-wheeler theft cases reported in the city to determine whether there is any connection. At this stage, however, no such link has been officially established.
The identity of the person visible in the footage has not yet been confirmed, and no arrest has been announced in connection with the incident.
The case has again drawn attention to vehicle security in busy commercial areas, where scooters and motorcycles are frequently parked outside shops for long periods during business hours.
Further details are expected once police complete their preliminary examination of the CCTV footage and trace the stolen Activa.
