JALANDHAR, October 20, 2026: A serious incident in the Anand Nagar area of Maqsudan left a young woman and her mother injured on Tuesday, while a young man connected with the episode later died. Police have begun an investigation to establish the exact circumstances and motive behind the incident.
The incident took place at a residence in Street No. 3 of Anand Nagar. According to preliminary information available to police, the young man arrived at the house before an altercation occurred.The injured woman has been identified as Manpreet Kaur. Her mother was also hurt while intervening during the incident. Both women were taken to hospital, where they were undergoing treatment.
The young man was identified as Om Preet Singh, a resident of Nandanpur in the Maqsudan area. He is reported to have returned from Dubai some time ago.Police officials reached the locality after receiving information about the incident and began examining the scene. Statements from the injured women, family members and people present in the neighbourhood are expected to form an important part of the investigation.
Investigators are also looking into reports suggesting that a personal or relationship-related dispute may have preceded the incident. However, police have not yet officially established a romantic relationship as the confirmed motive, and that aspect remains under investigation.
ACP Karnail Singh said police were examining the circumstances surrounding the attack on the woman and her mother as well as the young man’s subsequent death.The investigation is expected to include available CCTV footage, phone records and statements from people connected with the case in an effort to establish the sequence of events and determine what led to the confrontation.
Police have not announced a final conclusion regarding the motive, and further details are expected after statements and other evidence are examined.
