JALANDHAR, October 23, 2026: A video from Jalandhar’s Bhargo Camp area has gone viral on social media, showing a young man struggling to remain on his feet while leaning against an electricity pole for support. The footage, reportedly recorded near Buddha Mall Ground, has once again brought the issue of alleged drug abuse in Jalandhar West into public discussion.

In the video, the youth appears unsteady and repeatedly tries to support himself against the pole. Local residents who recorded the footage can be heard identifying the location as Buddha Mall Ground. They also claimed that similar scenes are frequently witnessed in the area.

The video alone, however, does not establish what caused the youth’s condition or whether he had consumed any particular intoxicating substance. No medical examination or official police assessment of the individual has so far been cited to establish the cause of his condition.

People present in the area claimed that some other youths left on motorcycles after noticing that a video was being recorded. Their identity and any connection with the young man seen in the footage have not been established.

The video was later shared by BJP leader, former Jalandhar West MLA and Punjab BJP SC Morcha president Sheetal Angural, who expressed concern over what he described as the growing impact of drugs on young people.

Angural used the incident to question the state government and local administration over their claims of action against the drug menace. He said the sight of a young person in such a condition was deeply concerning and called for stronger efforts to protect Punjab’s youth.

He argued that families dream of providing their children with education, employment and a secure future, but drug abuse continues to pose a serious challenge for many communities. Angural said young people should be provided opportunities and support rather than being allowed to fall into addiction.

The BJP leader also demanded stronger legal action against people involved in the sale and supply of illegal drugs in Jalandhar West. He called for coordinated action by police and the civil administration to identify alleged drug-supply networks and prevent narcotics from reaching vulnerable youngsters.

Angural’s remarks are political criticism of the present government and should be viewed in that context. The viral video itself does not establish the wider availability of drugs in the locality or prove that government anti-drug measures have failed.

The incident has nevertheless renewed concerns among residents about substance abuse and the condition of young people in parts of the city. Locals have called for greater police vigilance, preventive measures and rehabilitation support for those struggling with addiction.

The identity of the youth seen in the viral footage has not been disclosed. There has also been no confirmed information about whether he was taken for medical treatment or whether police have initiated any specific action in connection with the video.

The episode has once again put the focus on the need for a combination of enforcement against illegal drug suppliers, treatment for people affected by addiction and preventive programmes aimed at keeping young people away from substance abuse.
