Jalandhar, October 19: Residents planning to attend the traditional Burlton Park Dussehra celebration this year will have to head to a new venue. The historic event organised by Shri Ramlila Committee Nauhria Bazaar will be held at the open ground in Industrial Area, directly opposite Police Division No. 1, Jalandhar.
The 148th Dussehra celebration is scheduled for October 20, 2026. For generations, the event has been closely associated with Burlton Park, making this year's relocation a significant change for residents who traditionally gather there for the annual festivities.
According to the organisers, the venue has been shifted because development work and sports facilities at Burlton Park have made it difficult to hold the large-scale Dussehra programme at its usual location.
The committee has therefore selected the open Industrial Area ground opposite Police Division No. 1, where preparations are being made for the celebration and the traditional burning of the effigies.
Organisers have urged residents to take note of the venue change and avoid travelling to Burlton Park expecting the usual Dussehra programme. Visitors attending the celebration on October 20 should instead reach the Industrial Area ground opposite Division No. 1.
The Dussehra celebration remains one of Jalandhar's long-running festive traditions and is expected to attract a large number of devotees and residents despite the change of venue.
