Jalandhar, October 19 : Security arrangements have been tightened across Jalandhar ahead of Dussehra celebrations on Tuesday, October 20, with the Police Commissionerate deploying additional personnel around major festival grounds and public gathering areas to ensure that the festivities are conducted peacefully and safely.

Acting on the directions of Police Commissioner Satinder Singh, police teams have been deployed at various Dussehra venues across the city, where large crowds are expected to gather for the traditional burning of effigies of Ravana, Kumbhkaran and Meghnad. The administration has stepped up its preparations in anticipation of families and devotees arriving at these locations throughout the day.

Senior police officials have been instructed to closely supervise security arrangements at major celebration grounds. Police Commissioner Satinder Singh has also reviewed preparations and issued directions to officers responsible for maintaining law and order during the festival. Particular attention is being given to locations where large gatherings could create additional security and crowd-management challenges.

With Dussehra being one of the most widely celebrated festivals in Jalandhar, the police are focusing on preventing overcrowding and ensuring that visitors can participate in the celebrations without unnecessary inconvenience. The increased deployment is intended to strengthen public safety while allowing festival organisers to conduct their programmes smoothly.

This year, one of Jalandhar's prominent Dussehra celebrations, traditionally held at Burlton Park, has also been shifted to the open ground in the Industrial Area opposite Police Division No. 1. The change of venue makes it particularly important for visitors to confirm the location of their intended celebration before leaving home.

Residents attending Dussehra programmes are advised to follow instructions issued by police personnel and event organisers, avoid overcrowding near effigy-burning areas and cooperate with security arrangements. Families visiting with children should remain attentive in busy gathering areas and use designated entry and exit routes wherever provided.

The Jalandhar Police Commissionerate's enhanced security arrangements are aimed at ensuring that the festival, which symbolises the victory of good over evil, is celebrated in a peaceful and secure atmosphere across the city.
