Jalandhar, October 6, 2026 : The Excise Department carried out inspections at three commercial establishments in Jalandhar as part of an enforcement drive aimed at checking liquor stocks, licences and mandatory records.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of Assistant Excise Commissioner Dr. Harsimrat Kaur Grewal, with Excise Inspectors Manjit Singh, Sumant Mahi, Inderbir Singh and excise police personnel forming part of the checking team.
Officials inspected J.P. Hospitality, Blessed and Dressed and Para Foods, matching the physical liquor stock at the premises with registers and other documents maintained under excise regulations.
During inspection at J.P. Hospitality, the team found the stock register incomplete. Officials also reported beer bottles carrying invalid holograms and old or empty liquor bottles associated with supplies from outside Punjab. Statements of the persons concerned were recorded and further action was initiated under applicable excise rules.
At Blessed and Dressed, officials compared the physical stock with the entries in the official register. The quantities were reported to be in order, while no liquor originating from outside Punjab was found during the inspection.
At Para Foods, the management was reportedly unable to immediately produce the register relating to draft beer when sought by the checking team. However, the available Indian-made foreign liquor stock was checked against the records and was found to match the physical quantity present at the premises.
The department has been carrying out similar inspections in Jalandhar to check unauthorised liquor, irregular stock entries and violations involving holograms and documentation.
Officials have indicated that establishments serving or storing alcohol are required to keep their licences, stock registers and other mandatory records updated and available for inspection.
The enforcement drive is expected to continue, with further action depending on the findings recorded during individual inspections and the applicable excise provisions.
