JALANDHAR, October 21, 2026: A four-year-old girl lost her life in a tragic road accident in Jalandhar’s Focal Point area after she was hit by a truck while the heavy vehicle was being manoeuvred.
According to preliminary information, the accident occurred when the truck driver was attempting to turn the vehicle in the area. The child came into contact with the truck during the manoeuvre and suffered critical injuries.
People present nearby rushed to help following the accident, while police were informed about the incident. Despite efforts to assist the child, she could not be saved.
Police reached the spot soon after receiving information and took control of the situation. The truck driver was detained and the vehicle was also brought under police supervision as investigators began examining how the accident occurred.
The exact circumstances leading to the collision are now being investigated. Police are expected to record statements from people present at the scene and examine any CCTV footage available in the surrounding area to reconstruct the movement of the truck.
Investigators will also look into whether adequate precautions were being taken while the heavy vehicle was being turned in an area where pedestrians and local residents were present.
The incident has left the child’s family devastated and caused shock among residents of the Focal Point locality. The death of such a young child has once again brought attention to the safety risks posed by heavy commercial vehicles operating in populated industrial areas.
At this stage, the driver’s detention does not itself establish criminal responsibility. Police will determine the circumstances of the accident and any alleged negligence on the basis of evidence collected during the investigation.
