Jalandhar, October 5, 2026: A high-speed car created panic in Rose Bagh Colony on Gulab Devi Road after allegedly hitting vehicles parked along the street before overturning. Three youths were detained by police for questioning following the incident, while another occupant reportedly left the area before police action.

The accident occurred near a gurdwara on Gulab Devi Road, drawing residents out of their homes after they heard a loud crash.

According to people present in the area, the car first struck a parked vehicle before losing control and overturning. It reportedly came into contact with another vehicle during the sequence of events.

Despite the severity of the crash, no loss of life was reported.

Four Youths Were Reportedly Inside Car

Police and eyewitness accounts indicate that four youths were travelling in the car when the accident occurred.

Three remained at or near the spot following the crash and were subsequently taken into police custody for questioning.

The fourth occupant reportedly left before police could question him, and investigators are examining the circumstances surrounding his departure.

Local residents claimed the youths were from the Model House and Bhargav Camp areas of Jalandhar, although police are verifying their identities and statements.

Intoxication Allegation Yet to Be Confirmed

Several eyewitnesses alleged that the youths appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.

However, police had not officially established intoxication when the initial investigation was reported.

The detained youths were sent for medical examination, which is expected to help authorities determine whether alcohol or any other factor played a role.

Until the medical report is available, claims regarding intoxication should be treated as allegations rather than confirmed fact.

Couple Alleges Car Was Following Them

The case took another turn when a couple present at the scene alleged that the car occupants had been following them from the 12 Footi Road area before the crash.

They claimed the car repeatedly moved close to their Activa and that the occupants were making videos.

Police are examining this allegation as part of the wider investigation.

It has not yet been independently established whether the alleged interaction with the couple contributed to the accident.

Residents Heard Loud Impact

Rose Bagh resident Naveen Sachdeva said people inside nearby houses heard a loud impact and came outside to see what had happened.

They found the car overturned after it had allegedly struck a vehicle parked in the street.

The crash also caused damage to other vehicles in the area.

Residents subsequently informed the authorities, following which a police team reached the location.

Division No. 2 Police Take Car Into Possession

A team from Police Station Division No. 2, led at the scene by ASI Naresh Kumar, reached Rose Bagh Colony after receiving information through the emergency helpline 112.

Police arranged for the overturned car to be brought upright and later shifted it to the police station for further examination.

The three youths were also taken for questioning.

According to the preliminary police version, the occupants claimed during questioning that somebody had been following them before the accident.

Investigators are now comparing their statements with those of local residents and the couple who made separate allegations.

CCTV and Statements Could Help Establish Sequence

Police are expected to examine any CCTV footage available from Gulab Devi Road, Rose Bagh Colony and surrounding streets to reconstruct the car’s movement before the crash.

Statements from vehicle owners whose cars were damaged are also being recorded.

This could help determine the speed and manner in which the vehicle was being driven and clarify what happened immediately before it overturned.

Legal Action After Medical Report and Investigation

At the time of publication, police had detained the three youths for questioning rather than announcing formal arrests.

Further legal action will depend on the medical examination, witness statements, vehicle inspection and other evidence gathered during the investigation.

The accident has once again highlighted concerns over speeding on residential roads, where parked vehicles, pedestrians and two-wheeler riders can be particularly vulnerable.

Police investigation into the incident remains underway, and further details are expected after medical reports and statements are reviewed.
