Jalandhar, October 5, 2026: A late-evening dispute in the Ravidas Nagar locality of Maqsudan has drawn attention after a local youth alleged that men he identified as police personnel, who were dressed in civilian clothes, assaulted and threatened him.

According to the youth, he was standing in the street with his maternal cousin when two men arrived in a car. He alleged that one of them photographed a motorcycle parked nearby before the two went inside a PG located in the neighbourhood.

The youth claimed that after his cousin left, one of the men came out of the PG and questioned him about the motorcycle. He reportedly told the man that the bike belonged to his cousin, following which an argument allegedly began.

The complainant further alleged that he was threatened with police action and that the verbal exchange later turned into a physical confrontation. He claimed that additional men came out of the PG and joined the dispute, leaving him with injuries.

He has also alleged that some of the men carried sharp-edged objects during the confrontation. These claims have not yet been independently confirmed by police.

The youth has further alleged that the men appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. This allegation also remains unverified, and no medical or official finding confirming intoxication was available at the time of publication.

The incident caused tension in the locality as residents gathered after the altercation. The identity and official posting of the men accused by the youth had not been confirmed through a police statement when this report was prepared.

No official information regarding registration of an FIR, detention of any person or initiation of a departmental inquiry was available at the time of publication.

The case therefore remains based on the youth’s account, and the complete sequence of events will become clearer only after police record statements, examine available evidence and issue their official version.

The Jalandhar Times will update the report if police confirm the identities of the persons involved or announce further legal action.
