Jalandhar, October 4, 2026: Jalandhar Police intensified their crackdown against the drug trade on Sunday by conducting a large-scale Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in areas identified as potential drug hotspots across the city.

The operation was carried out as part of the ongoing anti-drug campaign, with multiple police teams searching suspected locations, checking houses and questioning individuals whose activities were considered suspicious.

Police Commissioner Satinder Singh personally supervised the operation as officers moved into targeted areas to check possible drug-supply activity and gather information about suspected networks operating at the local level.

Among the locations covered during the drive was Qazi Mandi, an area where police teams carried out extensive checking and house-to-house searches.

Police personnel also monitored movement in and out of sensitive pockets and questioned people present at locations identified during earlier intelligence gathering.

Several Suspects Taken for Questioning

During the operation, police detained several individuals on the basis of suspicion and took them for questioning.

Investigators are examining whether any of those detained have links with drug trafficking, distribution networks or individuals already under investigation.

Being detained for questioning, however, does not establish that a person has committed an offence. Any further legal action will depend on evidence found during the investigation.

At the time of publication, police had not publicly announced a final number of people detained during the Jalandhar operation.

No specific quantity of narcotics or other recovery from this particular CASO had also been officially confirmed in the information available so far.

Focus on Drug Hotspots

CASO operations are generally conducted in areas where police have received intelligence or previous information regarding criminal activity.

Rather than checking only one suspect, teams cordon off a defined area and simultaneously search multiple locations, allowing investigators to verify information and prevent suspects from leaving before checks are completed.

The October 4 operation focused particularly on neighbourhoods where police suspected drug supply or trafficking activity.

Teams examined suspected houses and other locations while also gathering information about people believed to be connected with illegal drug networks.

Police Say Surprise Checks Will Continue

Commissionerate Police have indicated that similar operations will continue in the coming days.

Surprise searches and checking drives are expected to be carried out periodically in areas identified as vulnerable to drug trafficking.

Police Commissioner Satinder Singh has said strict action will be taken against those found involved in the illegal drug trade.

At the same time, police have appealed to residents to share information regarding suspected drug trafficking in their neighbourhoods so that leads can be independently verified and acted upon.

Anti-Drug Enforcement Intensifies in Jalandhar

The latest CASO comes amid intensified anti-drug enforcement across Jalandhar.

Police teams have carried out a series of operations in recent weeks targeting suspected suppliers and examining the forward and backward links of people arrested in drug-related cases.

The strategy increasingly focuses not only on individual arrests but also on identifying the wider networks behind the supply chain.

Investigators typically examine contacts, financial links and other available evidence to establish whether additional people are connected with a case.

Sunday’s operation reflects that broader approach, with police attempting to identify activity at hotspot level before expanding investigations where evidence warrants further action.

For residents of Jalandhar, the effectiveness of the campaign will ultimately depend on whether repeated searches and intelligence-led operations result in sustained disruption of drug trafficking networks.

Further details regarding arrests, recoveries or cases registered during the October 4 operation are expected only after police complete questioning and verification of the detained suspects.
