JALANDHAR, October 22, 2026: Jalandhar Commissionerate Police have destroyed 68 kg and 719 grams of narcotic substances seized in different cases registered under the NDPS Act, as part of the ongoing ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ campaign against drugs.
The disposal process was carried out on October 21 after completion of the required legal procedures connected with the seized case property. The narcotics had been recovered in separate cases registered at different police stations falling under the Jalandhar Police Commissionerate.
According to police, the entire exercise was conducted under the directions of Commissioner of Police Satinder Singh and under the supervision of the Commissionerate Police Drug Disposal Committee.
The seized narcotics were taken to an authorised disposal facility at ABS Food & Beverage in village Raowali, Jalandhar, where they were destroyed in accordance with the prescribed procedure. Police said the exercise was carried out transparently after completing all necessary legal formalities.
The consignment destroyed during the operation included 30 kg of poppy husk, 4 kg and 376 grams of heroin, 15 grams of smack, 31 kg and 222 grams of ganja, and 3 kg and 106 grams of charas.
Together, the different narcotic substances weighed 68.719 kg.
Police said the purpose of disposing of seized narcotics after completion of the required judicial and legal process is to ensure that such substances do not re-enter illegal circulation or become vulnerable to misuse.
The disposal of case property is an important stage in NDPS investigations. Narcotics recovered during police operations remain secured as evidence and are destroyed only after the procedures required under law have been completed.
Jalandhar Commissionerate Police said action against drug trafficking and illegal narcotics networks would continue under the state’s anti-drug campaign.
Along with enforcement operations, police have also appealed to residents to share information about suspected drug trafficking and other illegal activity in their neighbourhoods.
Citizens can contact the police through 112 or the anti-drug helpline 9779100200. Police have said that the identity of people providing information will be kept confidential.
The Commissionerate Police reiterated that enforcement against drug trafficking would continue as part of efforts to reduce the availability and circulation of illegal narcotics in Jalandhar.
