Swine flu cases rise in Jalandhar as another woman tests positive for H1N1
Jalandhar has reported another H1N1 case, taking the district’s confirmed swine flu tally to 30.

Jalandhar, October 1, 2026: Concern over swine flu has increased in Jalandhar after another woman tested positive for Influenza A (H1N1), taking the total number of confirmed cases reported in the district this season to 30.

The latest patient is a 55-year-old woman from Tej Mohan Nagar. She is currently undergoing treatment at Civil Hospital, Jalandhar, where doctors are monitoring her condition.

According to district health authorities, samples from 134 suspected swine flu patients have been collected so far. Of these, 30 have tested positive for H1N1.

The latest case adds to a steady increase in infections reported across the district during September.

Health officials have stepped up surveillance and are keeping a close watch on patients showing symptoms associated with seasonal influenza and H1N1.

Swine flu is caused by the H1N1 influenza virus and spreads mainly through respiratory droplets when an infected person coughs, sneezes or speaks. Symptoms can resemble those of seasonal flu and may include fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, fatigue and, in some cases, difficulty breathing.

Health authorities have advised people not to panic but to remain alert, particularly if flu-like symptoms continue or become severe.

People experiencing persistent high fever, breathing difficulties or worsening symptoms have been advised to seek medical attention rather than relying on self-medication.

Extra caution is recommended for elderly people, pregnant women, young children, people with weakened immunity and those suffering from existing respiratory or chronic illnesses, as they may face a higher risk of complications.

Residents have also been advised to follow basic precautions such as washing hands regularly, covering the mouth and nose while coughing or sneezing, avoiding close contact with people experiencing flu-like symptoms and wearing a mask in crowded places when necessary.

Jalandhar has witnessed a gradual rise in H1N1 cases over recent weeks, prompting the health department to strengthen monitoring and preparedness at healthcare facilities.

District health officials have said treatment arrangements are available and have urged residents to seek timely medical advice if serious symptoms develop.

With the total number of confirmed cases now reaching 30, health authorities are continuing to monitor the situation closely while appealing to residents to remain cautious and follow preventive measures.
