Amritsar, October 3, 2026: Popular social media influencer and makeup artist Mad Sandhu, whose name was Madhusudan, was shot dead in Amritsar on Saturday evening, triggering a major police investigation into the attack and its possible motive.
The incident took place on Loharka Road at around 6 pm, when two unidentified men riding a motorcycle allegedly approached Sandhu and opened fire before escaping from the area.
Sandhu was immediately taken for medical treatment but could not be saved.
Police teams reached the area soon after receiving information about the incident and began collecting evidence from the scene.
Investigators are examining CCTV cameras installed along Loharka Road and nearby areas in an effort to identify the motorcycle used by the attackers and trace their movements before and after the shooting.
Senior police officers have said investigators have obtained important leads in the case and multiple teams are working to identify and arrest those responsible.
At the time of publication, however, no arrest had been officially announced.
The motive behind Mad Sandhu’s killing also remains unclear.
Police are examining different possible angles rather than limiting the investigation to a single theory.
One aspect under examination relates to an earlier controversy involving some of Sandhu’s social-media videos.
In July, objections had reportedly been raised over some of his online content, and he had received a public warning asking him to avoid posting material that was considered objectionable.
Police are expected to examine whether that earlier controversy had any connection with Saturday’s attack.
However, no evidence establishing a link between the previous warning and Sandhu’s killing had been officially confirmed, and investigators have not publicly identified the motive.
No individual or organisation had claimed responsibility for the attack at the latest update.
Sandhu had built a sizeable online following through content related to makeup, fashion, lifestyle and social commentary.
He was also associated with the beauty industry in Amritsar and regularly appeared in online discussions and videos.
News of his death spread rapidly across social-media platforms, where followers and people associated with him expressed shock over the incident.
Police are now working to reconstruct Sandhu’s movements before the attack and determine whether he had received any recent threats or had disputes that could provide clues to the motive.
Investigators are also expected to examine digital records and speak with people who had been in contact with him in the hours and days before the incident.
The fact that the attackers allegedly arrived on a motorcycle and left immediately after the shooting has led police to examine whether the attack was planned in advance.
That possibility, however, remains part of the investigation and has not been established as a final finding.
Authorities have indicated that CCTV footage and other technical evidence could play a key role in identifying the assailants.
The killing has raised concern in Amritsar, particularly because the victim had a visible public presence through social media.
Police have said efforts are underway to arrest the attackers as quickly as possible and establish the full circumstances behind the crime.
Until investigators complete their work, speculation regarding who ordered the attack or why Mad Sandhu was targeted should be treated cautiously.
