Jalandhar, October 6, 2026: Punjabi Sufi singer Buta Mohammad and his family narrowly escaped serious injury after their vehicle was involved in a major road accident on the Jalandhar-Amritsar National Highway on Tuesday.
The collision took place near the Indian Oil depot at Suchi Pind, where Buta Mohammad’s vehicle and a trailer collided. The impact caused extensive damage to both vehicles, drawing a crowd to the highway soon after the accident.
Buta Mohammad was travelling with members of his family at the time. Despite the heavy damage to the vehicle, no serious injuries were reported among the singer or his family members.
The accident briefly disrupted traffic on the busy highway as the damaged vehicles remained on the road. People present at the scene informed the police, following which a team from Ramamandi Police reached the spot.
ASI Surjit Singh and other police personnel inspected the accident site and arranged for the damaged vehicles to be moved away so that traffic could resume normally.
Police began examining the circumstances that led to the collision and checked both vehicles as part of the initial inquiry. The exact sequence of events immediately before the crash was being established.
The collision led to an argument between the two sides at the spot, but the situation was brought under control after police intervention. Later information indicated that the matter was resolved between the parties and no formal complaint had been lodged at that stage.
The most significant relief from the accident was that the singer and his family escaped without serious harm despite the condition of the vehicles after the collision.
The incident once again highlights the risks on heavily travelled highway stretches around Jalandhar, where large commercial vehicles and private cars share busy routes throughout the day.
Further police action, if any, will depend on the statements of those involved and the findings of the inquiry into the accident.
