Jalandhar, October 15, 2026: The Aam Aadmi Party has made an important organisational change in Jalandhar by appointing senior party leader Deepak Bali as Halka In-charge of the Jalandhar Cantt Assembly constituency.

The new responsibility places Bali at the centre of the party’s constituency-level activities in Jalandhar Cantt, where he will be expected to coordinate with local workers, strengthen the organisational network and remain connected with issues raised by residents across the constituency.

Bali has remained an active face of AAP in Jalandhar and has regularly participated in political, social and cultural programmes across the district. He has also been associated with the Punjab government in an advisory role connected with tourism and cultural affairs and has been involved in the party’s organisational activities in the region.

The appointment marks a change in AAP’s organisational setup in Jalandhar Cantt. Rajwinder Kaur Thiara had been handling the constituency as Halka In-charge earlier, while Bali will now take over the responsibility assigned by the party.

Jalandhar Cantt remains politically significant ahead of the next Punjab Assembly election cycle. The constituency is currently represented by senior Congress leader Pargat Singh, who won the seat in the 2022 Assembly election.

Bali’s appointment as Halka In-charge, however, should not automatically be interpreted as an announcement of AAP’s candidate for a future Assembly election. Selection of an election candidate is a separate decision taken by the party leadership when tickets are formally announced.

For now, the appointment is primarily an organisational responsibility, with the focus expected to remain on strengthening the party structure, coordinating workers and taking constituency-level public issues to the leadership.

The change is also likely to bring renewed activity within AAP’s Jalandhar Cantt unit as the party begins reorganising its local network and preparing its ground-level structure for the period ahead.

Further details regarding Bali’s constituency team and the party’s organisational programme in Jalandhar Cantt are expected to emerge following the appointment.
