New Delhi/Ahmedabad, October 8, 2026: Security agencies have been alerted after threatening emails received in Ahmedabad referred to upcoming concerts of Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh in Delhi and Ahmedabad, prompting extensive security checks and an investigation into the origin of the messages.

The emails mentioned Dosanjh’s scheduled performance at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi on November 1 and another concert at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on November 21. The messages contained threats linked to both venues and warned people against attending the concerts.

The threat surfaced as around 10 private schools in Ahmedabad received similar emails on October 7. Narendra Modi Stadium and other establishments in the city were also mentioned, resulting in police, fire services, bomb detection and disposal squads, dog squads and anti-sabotage teams being deployed for precautionary searches.

Security personnel carried out detailed checks at the locations that had received the threatening communication. Officials later said no suspicious object or explosive material was found during the searches, and the threats investigated in Ahmedabad were determined to be hoaxes.

The sender of the email claimed an association with a pro-Khalistan outfit. Investigators, however, have not independently established the authenticity of that claim, and the identity of the person or group responsible for sending the emails remains under investigation. Any claimed organisational connection therefore remains unverified at this stage.

The Narendra Modi Stadium threat attracted additional attention because an India Under-19 versus Australia Under-19 cricket match was taking place at the venue when authorities became aware of the message. Security officials examined the situation, and the teams later left the venue in accordance with precautionary protocol.

The threatening email specifically referred to Diljit Dosanjh’s November 21 Ahmedabad concert. It also mentioned his November 1 performance at Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, bringing security arrangements for both high-profile events under increased scrutiny.

Ahmedabad authorities responded by checking schools and other establishments named in the communication. Students at several schools were sent home as a precaution while police and specialised security teams examined the premises.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Shivam Verma said searches conducted at the schools did not uncover anything suspicious. Authorities noted that Ahmedabad has previously witnessed similar threatening emails targeting schools, courts and other institutions that ultimately proved to be false alarms.

The latest messages are nevertheless being investigated because threats involving major public events require security agencies to examine both the credibility of the communication and the technical trail left by the sender.

Cybercrime investigators are expected to examine the email’s routing, digital origin and other technical information in an effort to identify whoever sent the messages. Security arrangements around the upcoming concerts are also likely to remain under review as the event dates approach.

There has been no announcement that either of Diljit Dosanjh’s concerts has been cancelled because of the threatening messages. The Delhi show remains scheduled for November 1 and the Ahmedabad performance for November 21 according to currently available information.

Authorities are expected to maintain heightened vigilance around the venues and assess security requirements based on information gathered during the investigation. Large concerts normally involve coordination between organisers, venue management, local police and emergency services, and the latest threat is likely to result in additional scrutiny of those arrangements.

While the Ahmedabad security searches did not uncover any suspicious material, investigators are continuing efforts to determine who sent the emails and why the two Diljit Dosanjh concerts were specifically mentioned. Until that investigation is completed, the claimed identity and motive of the sender remain unconfirmed.
