Jalandhar, October 8, 2026: Innocent Hearts School, Green Model Town organised a career guidance and counselling seminar for students of Classes XI and XII under “Disha – An Initiative”, aimed at helping senior students understand emerging career opportunities beyond conventional medical and engineering streams.
The initiative is run and managed by the Bowry Memorial Educational and Medical Trust. Students from the Loharan and Noorpur branches also joined the programme virtually, allowing learners from different campuses to participate in the session.
The resource person for the seminar was Amandeep Kaur, Regional Manager at Plaksha University, who addressed students on the theme “STEM Pathways Beyond Medical and Engineering.” She discussed how rapid technological developments are transforming the professional landscape and creating new career options for students.
During the session, Kaur highlighted the growing influence of Artificial Intelligence and encouraged students to develop adaptable skills for a workplace that is continuously evolving. She explained that modern careers are increasingly becoming non-linear, allowing individuals to move across different roles, sectors and disciplines during their professional lives.
Students were introduced to the concept of interdisciplinary education combining areas such as Artificial Intelligence, biosciences, humanities and economics. The session emphasised that bringing together knowledge from different fields can help students develop innovative approaches to problem-solving and explore a wider range of career possibilities.
Kaur also shared information about Plaksha University’s Mohali campus and its Freshmore curriculum, which provides students with a broad academic foundation before they move towards specialised areas of study.
While explaining the importance of selecting appropriate subjects at the senior-secondary level, she highlighted Mathematics as an important requirement for several technology-related programmes. Students were also informed that certain technology pathways can remain open to those from commerce backgrounds when they meet the required academic criteria.
The session covered emerging opportunities in product development, computing, machine learning and entrepreneurship, with students encouraged to explore careers aligned with their individual interests, abilities and long-term aspirations.
Kaur also spoke about the role of collaborative efforts and philanthropy in strengthening education and supporting innovation. She encouraged students to think beyond traditional career choices and consider how emerging technologies could enable them to contribute to India’s growing innovation ecosystem.
At the conclusion of the seminar, a token of gratitude was presented to Amandeep Kaur by Rajeev Paliwal, Principal of Innocent Hearts School, Green Model Town; Amit, Vice-Principal; and Dr Arjinder Singh, Principal of Innocent Hearts College of Education.
The seminar concluded with an emphasis on informed career planning, encouraging students to evaluate their strengths and interests before selecting higher-education pathways rather than limiting themselves to traditionally preferred professional streams.
