Jalandhar, October 1, 2026: Ivy World Play School celebrated Gandhi Jayanti with a series of creative and experiential activities aimed at introducing young learners to Mahatma Gandhi’s values of truth, peace, cleanliness, responsibility and non-violence.

The celebration was designed to help children understand Gandhian principles through age-appropriate activities rather than conventional classroom lessons, combining language development, creativity, history and value education.

The programme was conducted under the guidance of the school management, including Chairman Sanjeev Kumar Vasal, Vice President Ena Vasal, CEO Raghav Vasal, Director Aditi Vasal, Director/Principal Sanjeev Chauhan and Headmistress Shefali Sharma.

One of the key activities was the “Gandhi Newsroom,” where K2 students stepped into the role of young reporters.

The children were introduced to a traditional typewriter and participated in activities involving newspapers and Hindi vocabulary. They identified two-letter Hindi words and used stamps to form two- and three-letter words associated with Mahatma Gandhi and his teachings.

A special cleanliness drive was also organised to help children understand the importance of hygiene, proper waste disposal and keeping their surroundings clean.

Teachers explained that cleanliness is not only a personal habit but also a responsibility towards the community and environment.

Another activity titled “Gandhi’s Glasses – His Vision” encouraged students to decorate representations of Mahatma Gandhi’s iconic spectacles while sharing their ideas about how the world could become a better place.

Children expressed thoughts centred on kindness, helping others, maintaining cleanliness and living peacefully.

The celebration also introduced young learners to an important chapter of India’s freedom struggle through a “Namak” tracing activity.

Students practised tracing the Hindi word “Namak” while being introduced, in a child-friendly manner, to the significance of the Dandi March and Salt Satyagraha.

The activity combined Hindi language development and pre-writing practice with basic historical awareness.

Through the various sessions, students were able to work on fine-motor skills, vocabulary, communication and creative expression while simultaneously learning about the principles associated with Mahatma Gandhi.

The school said such experiential activities help children understand important values by connecting lessons with practical and enjoyable experiences.

The celebration concluded with students being encouraged to practise kindness, responsibility, cleanliness and peaceful behaviour in their everyday lives.

Through the Gandhi Jayanti programme, Ivy World Play School sought to introduce its young learners to the idea that even simple actions such as helping others, speaking truthfully and keeping their surroundings clean can contribute to a more responsible and compassionate society.
