Jalandhar, October 9, 2026: A dispute between two railway employees at Lohian Khas Railway Station in Jalandhar district allegedly turned physical after a Station Superintendent struck a Train Manager with a stick during an argument over the movement of a goods train.

The incident involved Station Superintendent Yashwant and Train Manager Ravi, who was working on a BTPN train carrying fuel towards Jammu. A video purportedly showing part of the confrontation later surfaced on social media and drew the attention of senior railway officials.

According to information available about the incident, the BTPN train reached Lohian Khas Railway Station at around 11 am. The railway crew was reportedly awaiting clear instructions on whether the train was to proceed further or remain stopped at the station.

Train Manager Ravi and Loco Pilot Gyan Prakash reportedly attempted to establish communication through a walkie-talkie to clarify the operational instructions. When they allegedly did not receive a clear response, Ravi approached the Station Superintendent to seek information regarding the train’s detention.

It is alleged that an argument developed during this conversation and the Station Superintendent struck Ravi on the head with a stick. During the confrontation, Ravi’s mobile phone also fell from his hand.

The incident created commotion at the railway station and the Jammu-bound BTPN rake remained at Lohian Khas as questions were raised over the circumstances that led to the confrontation.

A video of the incident subsequently circulated on social media. The footage has now become part of the material being examined as railway authorities attempt to establish the sequence of events and determine responsibility.

Following the incident, Firozpur Railway Division’s Divisional Operations Manager Gursharan Pathak called both railway employees for an explanation. A departmental inquiry has been initiated into the matter.

Government Railway Police have also begun examining the incident and have reportedly recorded statements as part of their inquiry.

The investigation is expected to examine the communication between railway staff before the altercation, the instructions regarding movement of the BTPN train and the circumstances in which the dispute became physical.

At present, the allegations against the Station Superintendent remain subject to departmental and police inquiry. No final finding of misconduct or criminal responsibility has been announced.

The incident has also raised concerns about coordination between railway operational staff, particularly because clear communication is essential when handling the movement of goods trains carrying fuel or other sensitive cargo.

Railway authorities are expected to determine whether established operational procedures were followed and whether disciplinary action is required against either employee after the inquiry is completed.

Further action will depend on the statements of those involved, available video footage and the findings of the departmental investigation.
