Jalandhar, October 7, 2026: A daylight snatching incident involving a minor has been reported near Domoria Pul on the road leading towards Kishanpura Chowk in Jalandhar, where a youth allegedly attacked the child with a sharp-edged weapon before snatching a gold locket from his neck and fleeing the spot.
The minor, identified as Ayosh, said he was travelling on his bicycle towards the Kishanpura Chowk side when he was approached by a young man who was reportedly dressed in Nihang attire. According to the child’s account, the encounter happened suddenly while he was travelling along the busy road.
Ayosh alleged that the youth confronted him and attacked him with a sharp-edged weapon. During the incident, the assailant allegedly targeted the gold locket being worn by the minor and forcibly removed it from his neck before escaping from the area.
The incident took place during daylight hours near Domoria Pul, a heavily used route connecting central parts of Jalandhar with Kishanpura and adjoining localities. The area usually witnesses considerable movement of pedestrians, cyclists and other vehicles throughout the day.
The sudden attack on a minor has raised concerns about safety along the busy stretch. Details regarding the extent of any injury suffered by the child were not independently available at the time of publication, and no medical assessment has yet been confirmed through an official statement.
It also remains unclear whether the assailant specifically followed the child after noticing the gold locket or whether the alleged attack was an opportunistic snatching. This aspect would need to be established through investigation and examination of available evidence.
CCTV cameras installed on the Domoria Pul-Kishanpura route and outside nearby businesses could play an important role in identifying the suspect and tracing the direction in which he fled after the incident. Footage may also help establish the sequence of events before and after the alleged attack.
The description that the suspect was dressed in Nihang-style attire is based on the account attributed to the minor and should not be taken as establishing the suspect’s identity or association with any religious group. Identification of the person involved will depend on the police investigation and supporting evidence.
Domoria Pul and the surrounding roads form one of Jalandhar’s busy inner-city corridors, with regular movement towards the railway station, Kishanpura Chowk and several commercial areas. Daylight incidents on such heavily travelled roads often heighten concerns among local residents and commuters.
At the time of publication, independent confirmation regarding registration of an FIR, identification of the suspect or any arrest in connection with this specific incident was not available.
Further details are expected once police record the complete statement, examine CCTV footage from the surrounding area and determine the circumstances in which the alleged attack and snatching took place.
