Jalandhar October 8, 2026: Tension prevailed outside a school in Jalandhar’s New Prithvi Nagar area on Thursday after relatives of an injured student reached the campus seeking answers over a classroom clash that had taken place a few days earlier.
The incident occurred at Twinkle Model High School, where a dispute reportedly broke out between a Class 9 student and a Class 10 student over a bench kept inside the classroom.
According to the injured student’s family, the disagreement escalated and the Class 9 student allegedly attacked the Class 10 student with chairs, causing an abdominal injury.
The injured student was taken to Sacred Heart Hospital for treatment, where he underwent surgery. His family has said that the injury required 22 stitches and that he remains under medical supervision.
Three days after the incident, members of the injured student’s family reached the school and protested over the handling of the matter. The situation drew a crowd outside the campus and caused concern among other parents.
Police reached the school after receiving information about the protest and began speaking with those present in an effort to prevent the situation from escalating further.
As a precaution, the school administration sent students home and closed the main gate while the matter was being handled.
Family members alleged that the school should have provided greater support after the student was injured. They also raised concerns regarding the circumstances in which the fight took place inside the school premises.
According to accounts from people associated with the school, the dispute began during school hours when the two students argued over a bench. The confrontation subsequently turned physical.
A school representative has reportedly confirmed that a clash took place between the two students and that one of them required hospital treatment. The representative also said the injured student’s condition was stable following surgery.
There are, however, differing versions regarding what happened after the incident and what assistance was discussed between the family and the school administration. These claims have not yet been independently resolved.
Police have called the families of both students to the police station so that statements from each side can be formally recorded.
The investigating officer said further action would be taken after hearing both sides and examining the circumstances surrounding the altercation.
No final determination regarding responsibility had been announced by police at the time of publication.
The incident has also raised questions among parents about student supervision and how schools respond when arguments between children begin to escalate into physical confrontations.
As both students involved are minors, the matter requires careful handling to protect their privacy and welfare while allowing police and school authorities to establish the sequence of events.
For now, the injured student’s recovery remains the immediate priority, while police continue the inquiry and both families await further action based on their statemen
