JALANDHAR, October 17, 2026: A late-evening robbery has been reported from the rural belt of Jalandhar district, where a Goraya resident has alleged that three men stopped him near Boparai and fled with his electric scooter, mobile phone and personal documents after threatening him.

The complainant, identified as Jasvir Singh, said he was returning home at around 8:15 pm when he reached the culvert on Jand Road in the Boparai area. According to his account, three men intercepted him and prevented him from moving ahead.

Jasvir alleged that the men were carrying a sharp-edged object and a stick and used them to threaten him. Fearing for his safety, he was unable to resist as the group allegedly took possession of his electric scooter and mobile phone.

He said some personal documents were also kept with the belongings that were taken during the incident. The three men then left the area with the scooter.

According to Jasvir, the electric scooter did not have much battery charge remaining at the time of the incident. He estimated that it could travel only another five to six kilometres, a detail that could potentially assist police in tracing the vehicle or identifying the direction in which it was taken.

The victim also claimed that he may be able to identify one of the men. He said he saw the person’s face during a brief struggle, while the faces of the other individuals were allegedly covered.

Jasvir said he approached the police later that night and submitted a complaint at around 10:30 pm, seeking action over the incident.

Police are expected to examine the complaint, check CCTV cameras installed along nearby roads and gather information from the surrounding area to establish the movement of the suspects and trace the stolen scooter.

The victim’s account remains subject to police verification. No individual should be treated as responsible until investigators identify the suspects and establish their alleged role through evidence.

The incident has once again raised concerns among residents over late-evening safety on rural link roads around Goraya, particularly stretches with limited public movement and surveillance.

Further details are expected after police complete the initial verification of the complaint and begin tracing the stolen vehicle.
