Jalandhar, October 7, 2026: A woman was allegedly targeted by two motorcycle-borne men in a daylight snatching incident in Bilga area of Jalandhar district, shortly after she withdrew money from a bank. The suspects allegedly escaped with an envelope containing ₹20,000 in cash, a mobile phone and the victim’s house keys.
The victim has been identified as Daljit Kaur, a resident of Pati Neelowal. According to the information available, she had visited a bank in Bilga and withdrawn ₹20,000. After completing the transaction, she came out of the bank and began proceeding towards her destination.
A short distance from the bank, two unidentified men riding a motorcycle allegedly intercepted her. Before the woman could understand what was happening or raise an alarm, one of the suspects allegedly snatched the envelope she was carrying and the duo fled from the spot on their motorcycle.
Daljit Kaur told police that the envelope contained the ₹20,000 she had withdrawn from the bank, along with her mobile phone and house keys. The sudden incident during daylight hours caused concern among residents and people present in the surrounding area.
The victim immediately informed Bilga Police about the incident. A police team subsequently reached the area and began collecting information regarding the suspects and the route they may have used to escape.
Police station in-charge Dilbag Singh confirmed that a written complaint had been received from the woman. Police have started investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and are searching for the two unidentified suspects.
As part of the investigation, CCTV cameras installed around the bank, nearby commercial establishments and connecting roads are being examined. Police are also gathering local inputs that could help identify the motorcycle or the individuals involved in the alleged snatching.
Investigators are expected to determine whether the woman was deliberately followed after withdrawing money from the bank or whether the suspects selected her opportunistically after noticing the envelope in her hand. CCTV footage from the bank and nearby roads could prove important in establishing the suspects’ movements before and after the incident.
Police have also initiated checking in the surrounding area in an attempt to trace the motorcycle-borne men. Details regarding the motorcycle registration number or a clear description of the suspects were not immediately available.
The daylight incident has again raised concerns over snatching and street crime in parts of Jalandhar district. Residents, particularly those visiting banks for cash transactions, have expressed concern over criminals targeting people in busy public areas.
Bilga Police are continuing the investigation on the basis of the victim’s complaint, CCTV footage and local information. No arrest had been officially confirmed at the time of publication, and further details are expected as the investigation progresses.
