Jalandhar, October 18, 2026: The National Investigation Agency carried out an operation in Jalandhar’s New Hardyal Nagar area near Garha, bringing renewed attention to an investigation connected with cases dating back to 2021.

According to preliminary information available following the operation, NIA personnel reached two residential premises in the locality and remained there for an extended period while carrying out inquiry-related proceedings.

The action is understood to be connected with an older investigation involving explosives and alleged cross-border networks that came under scrutiny in Punjab during 2021. Officials are examining earlier links and records as part of the continuing probe.

The residences visited during the latest operation are reported to have links with the family of former Akal Takht Jathedar Jasbir Singh Rode. The wider background of the investigation has previously involved individuals allegedly connected with Pakistan-based Lakhbir Singh Rode.

Cases investigated during that period included allegations involving the movement of explosives, weapons and other material into Punjab. Several investigations arising from those incidents subsequently came under the NIA’s jurisdiction.

During the latest Jalandhar operation, the central agency is understood to have carried out verification and served notices connected with the older investigation. Reports that documents were examined or taken into possession remain subject to official confirmation from the agency.

Local police were aware of the NIA team’s presence, but detailed information about the central agency’s investigation was not immediately disclosed.

The fact that a residence or individual is searched, questioned or served a notice during an investigation does not by itself establish criminal involvement or guilt. Any legal responsibility would depend on evidence collected by investigators and subsequent court proceedings.

The exact purpose of each notice, the nature of any material examined and whether fresh proceedings will follow are expected to become clearer if the NIA issues a detailed statement on the operation.

For now, the latest action indicates that investigators continue to examine unresolved links emerging from older cases involving alleged explosive and cross-border networks in Punjab.
