Jalandhar, October 8, 2026: A memorial gate dedicated to Guru Ravidas Ji will be constructed at Basti Danishmanda in Jalandhar at an estimated cost of nearly ₹1 crore, with the project aimed at creating a prominent landmark commemorating his teachings and legacy.

The foundation stone for the project was jointly laid by Sant Gurdeep Giri Ji of Pathankot and Punjab Cabinet Minister Mohinder Bhagat in the presence of local residents, devotees and organisers. Both were welcomed by members of the community during the ceremony.

According to information shared during the programme, the memorial gate is being constructed in connection with Guru Ravidas Ji’s Prakash Purab and is expected to reflect the religious and cultural significance of the area.

The project is estimated to cost approximately ₹1 crore, and efforts are being made to complete the construction before the upcoming Prakash Purab so that the memorial can be dedicated to devotees on the occasion.

The proposed design of the gate is expected to incorporate elements reflecting devotion and the teachings associated with Guru Ravidas Ji while also serving as a recognisable entry landmark for the Basti Danishmanda area.

Speaking during the foundation-stone ceremony, Mohinder Bhagat said the life and teachings of Guru Ravidas Ji continue to inspire people and carry a message that remains relevant to society.

He highlighted Guru Ravidas Ji’s emphasis on equality, brotherhood and communal harmony, saying these values should continue to guide society and future generations.

Sant Gurdeep Giri Ji also addressed the devotees and encouraged people to follow the teachings of Guru Ravidas Ji in their daily lives. He appealed for greater emphasis on love, social harmony and mutual respect among all sections of society.

The ceremony witnessed participation from local devotees and residents, many of whom welcomed the decision to construct a permanent memorial dedicated to Guru Ravidas Ji in the locality.

Organisers expressed confidence that the construction would be completed within the planned timeframe. Once completed, the memorial gate is expected to become an important religious and cultural landmark in Basti Danishmanda.

The project also carries significance for the local community because Guru Ravidas Ji’s teachings have a deep social and spiritual connection with a large number of families in Jalandhar and the wider Doaba region.

The foundation-stone ceremony concluded with an appeal to residents to collectively uphold the principles of equality, humanity and brotherhood associated with Guru Ravidas Ji and contribute towards maintaining harmony within society.
