New Delhi, October 7, 2026: A delegation of Punjab Youth Congress leaders met Indian Youth Congress President Uday Bhanu Chib in New Delhi on Wednesday and discussed the organisation’s continuing campaign over electoral transparency and concerns being raised regarding the electoral process.

The delegation included Angad Dutta, District President of Jalandhar Urban Youth Congress; Manpreet Singh Chadha, District President of Jalandhar Rural Youth Congress; Rana Sarvotam of Punjab Youth Congress; and Palvir Tutt, General Secretary of Jalandhar Youth Congress. During the meeting, the leaders discussed the participation of Punjab workers in the ongoing programmes being organised in the national capital.

The Punjab Youth Congress delegation said its workers would intensify their participation in the campaign and take part in demonstrations at different locations across Delhi on a daily basis. According to the leaders, the programmes will focus on issues they describe as relating to electoral transparency, institutional accountability and protection of citizens’ voting rights.

The announcement comes amid continuing political protests in the national capital over electoral-roll revisions and the functioning of the Election Commission. Opposition parties and youth organisations have raised a series of allegations regarding the electoral process, while the Election Commission has maintained that voter-list revision exercises are intended to ensure accurate and updated electoral rolls.

Angad Dutta said the organisation considers the vote of every citizen central to the democratic system and believes questions being raised about the electoral process should receive clear responses from the institutions concerned. He said Punjab Youth Congress workers would continue what he described as a peaceful and democratic campaign in Delhi.

Dutta said the organisation intended to ensure that issues raised by its workers and supporters reached a wider audience through peaceful demonstrations. He added that the Punjab unit would continue coordinating with the Indian Youth Congress leadership as the campaign progresses.

Manpreet Singh Chadha said the programme was aimed at raising concerns about public confidence in the electoral system rather than being limited to a single political event. He said Punjab Youth Congress workers had been present in Delhi since October 1 and would continue participating in programmes organised by the national leadership.

According to Chadha, workers from Punjab plan to participate in demonstrations across different parts of Delhi and subsequently take the campaign’s message to districts across Punjab. He said the organisation would continue to raise questions related to electoral transparency through democratic means.

Rana Sarvotam said the Punjab unit was prepared for sustained participation in programmes announced by the Indian Youth Congress. He said workers from the state had travelled to Delhi with the intention of remaining involved in the campaign and taking part in future programmes decided by the organisation’s national leadership.

Palvir Tutt was also part of the Punjab delegation that met Chib. The leaders said coordination between district-level workers from Punjab and the national Youth Congress leadership would continue as further protest programmes are planned in Delhi.

The delegation maintained that its workers have been present in New Delhi since October 1 and intend to continue their participation with what it described as discipline and a commitment to peaceful democratic protest. The leaders said future demonstrations would remain non-violent and would focus on issues concerning voters and electoral accountability.

The Indian Youth Congress has already organised demonstrations in Delhi in recent days, while questions surrounding permission for protest gatherings have also reached the Delhi High Court. The organisation has maintained that peaceful assembly forms part of democratic political activity and has sought permission for demonstrations at designated locations.

Punjab Youth Congress leaders said Wednesday’s meeting should not be viewed as preparation for a one-day programme. According to the delegation, workers from Punjab intend to maintain their presence in the capital and participate in demonstrations planned by the organisation at different locations.

The duration and locations of future demonstrations will also depend on permissions, security arrangements and directions issued by the authorities. The Punjab Youth Congress delegation said its campaign would continue peacefully while it seeks what it describes as clearer public responses to questions being raised over electoral transparency.
