Jalandhar, October 17, 2026: A fresh social-media controversy has emerged within Jalandhar’s political circles after Rajwinder Kaur Thiara rejected a viral post carrying a purported statement in her name about newly appointed Jalandhar Cantt AAP Halka In-charge Deepak Bali.
Thiara said she had made no such statement about Bali and described the material being circulated in her name as fake. She urged people not to accept social-media posts as genuine without first checking their authenticity.
The clarification comes at a time when the Aam Aadmi Party’s organisational change in Jalandhar Cantt has already generated considerable political discussion. Earlier this week, the party appointed Deepak Bali as the new Halka In-charge, replacing Thiara in the constituency.
The decision was followed by dissatisfaction among a section of local party workers and office-bearers who had been associated with Thiara. Against that background, posts and messages concerning the two leaders have also begun circulating on social-media platforms.
Thiara has now sought to distance herself from one such viral post, maintaining that the words being attributed to her do not represent any statement made by her.
She further alleged that the circulation of such material was an attempt to create differences among party leaders and disturb unity within the organisation. This remains Thiara’s allegation, and there is currently no independently established information identifying who originally created or circulated the disputed post.
Her clarification is important because statements attributed to political leaders can quickly gain traction on social media, particularly when they emerge during periods of organisational change or internal disagreement.
The controversy should also be viewed separately from the opposition expressed by some AAP workers following Bali’s appointment. While dissatisfaction over the change has been publicly reported, that does not establish that every statement or post circulating in Thiara’s name is genuine.
Deepak Bali took charge of the Jalandhar Cantt organisational responsibility after the party announced the change earlier this week. Since then, political activity in the constituency has intensified, with supporters of different local leaders expressing their views on the decision.
Thiara’s latest clarification seeks to draw a clear distinction between genuine political differences and statements being circulated without her approval.
As of now, the original source of the disputed viral post has not been established, and there is no confirmed information about the person or account responsible for creating it.
The episode once again underlines the importance of verifying political statements directly before treating viral social-media material as authentic.
