Jalandhar, 5 Novermber : A medical store in Jalandhar’s West area was allegedly targeted by thieves during the early hours of Thursday. The miscreants reportedly forced open the shop’s shutter and escaped with cash worth approximately ₹20,000 to ₹25,000.

According to the shop owner, the incident took place at around 2:30 am at Varun Medical Shop, which falls under the jurisdiction of Police Station Division No. 5. Arun, who provided details about the incident, said he received information around 3 am that the shop’s shutter had been found lifted.

After receiving the information, he reached the shop and discovered that the shutter had been forced open. He subsequently informed the police about the incident.

Arun stated that the thieves had taken approximately ₹20,000 to ₹25,000 in cash from the shop. He explained that the money had been kept in the cash box for a payment scheduled to be made in the morning.

The shop owner further claimed that medical stores in the area had repeatedly been targeted by thieves. He expressed concern over the recurring incidents and alleged that people involved in substance abuse were targeting local shops. However, this allegation has not been independently established.

According to Arun, the CCTV cameras at the shop were not operational at the time of the incident. He also said that the police visited the location and recorded his statement.

The incident has raised concerns among local shopkeepers, who say repeated thefts are creating an atmosphere of insecurity in the area. They have appealed to the police and administration to take steps to prevent such incidents and identify those responsible.
