Jalandhar, October 28: A street food vendor was seriously injured after allegedly being attacked by two young men in the Labour Colony area of Garha, Jalandhar. The incident reportedly followed an argument over a delayed omelette order at the victim's roadside food stall a day earlier. The injured vendor, who sells eggs and chicken to earn his livelihood, was admitted to a private hospital in Jalandhar. His family has demanded police action against the individuals allegedly responsible for the assault.

According to the victim, the disagreement began when a customer visited his roadside stall and ordered an omelette. As the vendor was handling several orders, preparing the food took longer than expected. The customer reportedly became upset over the delay, prompting the vendor to offer a refund. However, the situation escalated into an argument, with the customer allegedly using abusive language. The disagreement subsequently turned into a physical confrontation before people present nearby intervened and separated the two sides.

The vendor said he believed the matter had ended after the intervention of local residents. However, the following day, while he was returning home with his younger nephew, two men allegedly intercepted him on the road. According to his account, the individuals confronted him and attacked him with sharp weapons, leaving him with serious injuries to his head and arm. The sudden confrontation prompted efforts to arrange medical assistance for the injured vendor.

The victim identified the alleged attackers as Panku, also known as Pankaj, and Karan, alias Khurki. He claimed that the individuals had previously been seen moving around his residence, raising concerns that he might have been deliberately targeted following the disagreement at his food stall. These claims remain allegations, and the precise circumstances surrounding the assault are yet to be established through the police investigation.

Following the incident, the injured man was taken to a hospital for treatment. Due to the seriousness of his condition, doctors reportedly advised that he be referred to Amritsar for further medical care. However, his family subsequently arranged for his admission to a private hospital in Jalandhar, where he received medical attention. His latest medical condition has not been officially confirmed.

The victim's family has expressed concern about his safety and appealed to the police administration to investigate the matter thoroughly. They have requested appropriate legal action against those found responsible and sought protection against any further threats. Family members maintained that a disagreement over a food order should not have resulted in such a serious confrontation.

The incident has also raised concerns about the safety of small traders and roadside vendors who interact with numerous customers during their daily business. While disagreements over orders and service delays can occur, residents have emphasised the importance of resolving such matters peacefully rather than allowing them to escalate into violence.

Police are examining the allegations made by the victim and his family. The identities and roles of those allegedly involved, along with the sequence of events leading to the assault, remain subject to investigation. At the time of preparing this report, no confirmed information regarding arrests or the registration of an FIR was available.

The injured vendor and his family are now seeking a fair investigation and appropriate action. Further developments are awaited as police examine the complaint and the circumstances surrounding the incident.
