Jalandhar, October 27: A road accident on Garha Road in Jalandhar claimed the life of a 10-month-old baby girl who was travelling with her parents on a motorcycle. The family has alleged that a car struck their two-wheeler from behind and that the driver fled the scene without stopping to help. The incident has left the family from Jamsher village grieving and prompted demands for police action against the driver.
According to the child's father, Mani, he was travelling with his wife Nisha and their infant daughter when the accident occurred. The family had reportedly visited Jalandhar Civil Hospital to collect medicine and was returning home when a car allegedly hit their motorcycle from behind. The sudden collision caused the family to fall onto the road, leaving the baby seriously injured.
The parents said the accident happened so suddenly that they had little opportunity to react. They alleged that instead of stopping to check on the injured family, the car driver continued driving and disappeared from the location. People nearby came forward to assist the family as the parents desperately tried to arrange medical treatment for their daughter.
Following the collision, the injured baby was initially taken to Mannat Hospital for medical assistance. According to the family's account, doctors advised that she be shifted to PIMS Hospital for further treatment. After examining her condition, the medical team reportedly recommended transferring her to Dayanand Medical College and Hospital in Ludhiana. Despite efforts to obtain specialist care, the infant could not be saved.
The sudden loss has devastated the child's parents, who had left home expecting to return after a routine hospital visit. Instead, the family was confronted with a tragedy that has deeply affected their relatives and loved ones. The parents are now seeking answers about the circumstances surrounding the collision and want the driver involved to be identified.
Mani alleged that the vehicle responsible was a white car with a registration number ending in 2532. He has urged the police to trace the vehicle and take appropriate legal action. However, the complete registration number and the identity of the driver have not been officially confirmed.
The family has reportedly brought the incident to the attention of the police. Investigators will need to establish how the collision occurred and examine whether the driver was speeding or driving negligently. Witness accounts, nearby surveillance cameras and vehicle details may help determine the circumstances of the accident.
The incident has once again raised concerns about road safety in Jalandhar, particularly for families travelling on motorcycles. It also highlights the importance of providing immediate assistance to injured road users and ensuring that drivers involved in accidents fulfil their legal responsibilities.
At the time of preparing this report, official confirmation regarding the registration of an FIR, identification of the driver or any arrest was unavailable. Further developments are awaited as the family seeks action in connection with the death of their daughter.
