Jalandhar, October 12, 2026: A late-night incident involving a well-known local social-media influencer has raised concerns in Jalandhar after his scooter, parked outside his residence, was deliberately set on fire. The incident was captured by a nearby CCTV camera, and the footage is now expected to play an important role in establishing what happened.

The scooter belonged to an influencer popularly known among his followers as “Baba Ji.” According to the account given after the incident, the two-wheeler had been parked outside the house when a person approached the vehicle during the night.

CCTV footage from the area reportedly shows a person arriving near the scooter shortly before it caught fire. The individual can later be seen leaving the area. The identity of the person visible in the footage has not yet been officially established.

By the time the fire was noticed, the scooter had suffered extensive damage. Efforts were made to control the flames, but a significant portion of the vehicle had already been burnt.

The influencer has also claimed that he had received threatening calls and messages before the incident. He said the earlier communications were initially not taken seriously, but the fire has now raised fresh concerns over whether the two developments could be connected.

At present, however, there is no confirmed evidence publicly establishing a link between the earlier alleged threats and the scooter fire. That possibility will depend on what investigators find from CCTV footage, phone records and other available evidence.

The matter has been brought to the attention of police, and an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the fire has begun. Investigators are expected to examine CCTV recordings from the immediate area and adjoining streets to trace the movements of the person seen near the scooter.

Police will also have to determine whether the vehicle was specifically targeted, what may have motivated the incident and whether more than one person was involved.

The scooter had reportedly attracted attention because of its distinctive appearance, but any suggestion regarding why it was targeted remains speculative at this stage.

No person should be treated as responsible solely on the basis of the circulating CCTV clip. Identification of the individual and any criminal responsibility will depend on the police investigation and evidence collected in the case.

The incident has meanwhile drawn attention on social media, where videos and images of the damaged scooter have begun circulating. Further clarity is expected after police examine the available footage and record statements connected with the case.
