Jalandhar 6 November : A neighbourhood dispute in New Colony, Nangsalem Pur, Jalandhar, allegedly escalated into an assault on a family after some people reportedly entered their house and attacked its members. Several people, including Suman Kumar and his sons, sustained injuries in the incident.
Following the incident, the injured family members were taken to the Civil Hospital in Jalandhar for medical treatment. According to the family, one of the youths sustained serious injuries. They said his physical condition was already weak due to an earlier road accident and that his health deteriorated further after the alleged assault. The family also claimed that he has been repeatedly losing consciousness.
The family members said the dispute had started around 10 days earlier, when an argument reportedly took place between the two sides. They stated that a complaint had been submitted to the police at that time but alleged that no concrete action was taken. They now claim that the dispute escalated into another incident in which their family was attacked.
The complainants further alleged that they had shown CCTV footage and photographs related to the incident to the police. They also expressed suspicion that the footage may have been tampered with, a claim that has not been independently established.
Following the incident, the village sarpanch and other local residents reportedly extended support to the affected family. They have urged the police administration to conduct a fair and impartial investigation and take strict action against those found responsible.
