Jalandhar, November 1: Jalandhar Police conducted a late-night raid at Glassy Junction Hotel near HMV College on Maqsudan Road following information about the alleged operation of a hookah bar at the premises. During the raid, hotel staff reportedly left the spot, while police officials inspected the establishment.
According to information provided by police, the raid was conducted after receiving a tip-off about a hookah bar allegedly operating at the hotel. However, officers said they did not find evidence of a hookah bar during the inspection.
Police reportedly found liquor being served at the premises. The matter has been brought to the notice of the Excise Department, which will examine whether the establishment has the required licence to serve alcohol. Further action in this regard will depend on the department's findings.
ACP Rajesh Kumar, who reached the location, said strict action would be taken if any violations were established. Police officials also indicated that no person was taken into custody or rounded up during the raid.
Meanwhile, the pub manager reportedly claimed that the police action had taken place in another section of the hotel and had nothing to do with the pub. During the inspection, staff members were also seen handling liquor bottles displayed in the premises.
The Excise Department is expected to verify the licensing status of the establishment. Any further action against the hotel management will depend on the outcome of the investigation and verification.
