NEW DELHI, October 17, 2026: Punjabi film producer Amardeep Singh Grewal has been detained by the Enforcement Directorate at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport and taken for questioning in connection with an ongoing investigation involving an alleged ₹5-crore bribery and extortion matter.
Grewal was intercepted at the airport after immigration authorities flagged a Look Out Circular (LOC) that had been issued against him. Following the interception, he was taken to the Enforcement Directorate’s office in New Delhi, where questioning was underway.
As of the latest available information, Grewal has not been formally declared arrested. The present action involves his detention for questioning, and any further legal step will depend on the course of the investigation and the agency’s findings.
Grewal is associated with the Punjabi film industry and East Sunshine Production Private Limited. He has been connected with Punjabi productions including Maujaan Hi Maujaan and Snowman, giving him a recognised presence in the regional entertainment industry.
The Enforcement Directorate had earlier sought Grewal’s appearance for questioning. He was first called in early October and later given another date to appear before investigators. After he did not appear for the subsequent questioning, a Look Out Circular was issued, allowing authorities to intercept him if he attempted to pass through an immigration checkpoint.
The inquiry is linked to allegations involving a ₹5-crore demand in connection with a criminal case in Punjab. Investigators are examining whether money was allegedly sought in return for influencing the handling or outcome of that matter.
These remain allegations under investigation. No court has established Grewal’s criminal liability in relation to the claims, and his detention for questioning should not be treated as a finding of guilt.
The broader controversy has also generated political claims because some accounts have described Grewal as being connected to the family of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s wife, Dr Gurpreet Kaur Mann. The claimed relationship has been disputed by representatives of the Punjab government, while Dr Gurpreet Kaur has separately denied allegations linking her to the underlying controversy.
For investigators, the immediate focus is expected to remain on financial records, communications and other material that may help establish whether any illegal payment was sought, offered or received and whether other individuals were involved.
The Enforcement Directorate has not, at the time of this update, announced the conclusion of Grewal’s questioning or confirmed a formal arrest.
Further clarity is expected once the agency decides whether to release him after questioning, summon him again or initiate additional proceedings based on the evidence gathered.
