Jalandhar, October 26: Jalandhar Police have recovered several sacks filled with cut electrical wires from locked rooms in a rented residential property in Muslim Colony, raising suspicions that the premises may have been used to store stolen material. Acting on information received through the police control room, a team from Rama Mandi Police Station reached the location, opened the locked rooms with the assistance of the property owner and took the recovered wires into custody for further investigation.

The recovery was made after police received information suggesting that suspected stolen goods had been stored inside some rooms in a residential quarter complex. On reaching the property, officers found the rooms locked and attempted to contact the tenant who had reportedly been using them. Despite repeated phone calls, the individual allegedly avoided coming to the location. Police subsequently approached the property owner, Gurvinder Singh, to gain access to the rooms and examine the information they had received.

According to the property owner, he had rented a room to a young man identified as Ramzan approximately four months earlier. At the time of taking the accommodation, Ramzan reportedly told him that he was involved in the scrap business. Gurvinder Singh said he had no knowledge of any suspicious material being stored inside the premises and became aware of the matter only after police contacted him regarding the suspected recovery.

Gurvinder Singh further stated that he made several attempts to reach the tenant over the phone and asked him to return to the property. However, the young man reportedly failed to appear despite being contacted repeatedly. With the tenant unavailable, the police proceeded to open the locked rooms with the property owner's assistance. During the inspection, officers reportedly discovered several sacks containing large quantities of cut wires.

The recovered material was collected by the police team and transported to Rama Mandi Police Station. Investigators are now working to establish where the wires came from, whether they were obtained legally and if they are connected to any previously reported theft. The exact quantity, type and estimated value of the recovered material have not yet been disclosed.

ASI Gurdeep Singh, the investigating officer from Rama Mandi Police Station, confirmed that the police response followed information received through the control room. He explained that officers had initially tried to contact the occupant of the rooms but were unable to secure his presence. After contacting the property owner, the locked premises were opened and the sacks containing cut wires were recovered.

The investigating officer further stated that the tenant had been asked to appear at the police station and provide an explanation regarding the recovered material. Police have indicated that appropriate legal action may follow if the individual fails to cooperate with the inquiry. However, no confirmed details regarding an arrest or registration of an FIR were available in the information provided.

The recovery has prompted questions about how such a quantity of wires came to be stored inside residential quarters. While the circumstances have raised suspicions, investigators have yet to establish whether the material was stolen or legitimately acquired through scrap-related business activities. Police will need to examine the source of the wires and any supporting evidence before reaching a conclusion.

For now, the recovered sacks remain in police custody as the investigation continues. Further action will depend on the findings of the inquiry, the tenant's explanation and whether evidence establishes any connection between the material and criminal activity.
