Jalandhar, October 30 : A minor collision between two cars at Constitution Chowk—popularly known as BMC Chowk—in Jalandhar escalated into a heated roadside confrontation near Bhagwan Valmiki Chowk on Friday, prompting police intervention.
The incident began when two cars brushed against each other at the busy Constitution Chowk intersection. Following the initial impact, one of the vehicles drove away from the junction toward the main market area. The driver of the second car pursued the vehicle through city traffic and intercepted it near Bhagwan Valmiki Chowk, where a loud argument broke out between both sides in full view of commuters.
The occupants of the intercepted car, a husband and wife who had traveled to Jalandhar for shopping, alleged that the other motorist acted aggressively and misbehaved with them. Speaking at the scene, the woman stated that they had no intention of getting drawn into a street altercation, but the other driver trailed their car continuously from Constitution Chowk before cutting them off and blocking their path near Bhagwan Valmiki Chowk.
As the altercation drew a crowd and disrupted movement near the intersection, bystanders alerted law enforcement through the 112 emergency helpline. Police personnel deployed in the area reached the spot promptly, pacified both parties, and heard each side's account in an effort to mediate and resolve the dispute.
Traffic movement returned to normal following the police intervention, though officials had not immediately confirmed whether a formal written complaint was lodged by either party.
