Garhshankar, October 2, 2026: Police have launched an investigation after two motorcycle-borne men allegedly robbed a man and his mother-in-law while they were travelling towards Garhshankar to pay an instalment for a refrigerator.
The complainant, Sarabjit Singh, son of Joga Singh and presently residing in Khanpur, told police that he was travelling with his mother-in-law Rani, wife of Madan Lal, on motorcycle number PB-24-F-2558 when two youths riding another motorcycle approached them.
According to the complaint, the suspects stopped the pair and demanded money while threatening them.
During the confrontation, one of the suspects allegedly fired a shot into the air, creating panic. The men then snatched a bag being carried by Rani and fled from the spot on their motorcycle.
Sarabjit Singh told police that the bag contained approximately ₹10,000 in cash, a mobile phone and some important documents.
The incident was subsequently reported to Garhshankar Police.
A case has been registered against unidentified persons, and police have started efforts to trace the suspects and establish their route after the robbery.
Investigators are expected to examine available CCTV footage from the surrounding area and gather information that could help identify the motorcycle and those allegedly involved.
Police are also recording details provided by the complainant as part of the investigation.
No physical injuries to Sarabjit Singh or his mother-in-law were reported in the preliminary information available in the case.
The incident has once again raised concerns over robbery incidents involving motorcycle-borne offenders on local roads.
Police proceedings remain underway, and further details are expected as investigators work to identify and locate the suspects.
