Jalandhar, October 2, 2026: A man from Guru Nanakpura West in Jalandhar died during treatment after being attacked with a knife, triggering concern in the locality and prompting Rama Mandi Police to take action in the case.
The deceased has been identified as Davinder Singh, son of Labh Singh, a resident of Guru Nanakpura West in the Chowgitti area.
According to the complaint given to police by Davinder Singh’s wife, Jasvir Kaur, an altercation led to an attack in which Davinder sustained a serious stab injury.
Family members immediately rushed him for medical treatment. His condition remained critical despite treatment, and he later died at hospital.
Following his death, police converted the case into a murder investigation and intensified proceedings against the person accused of carrying out the attack.
Police have arrested an accused identified as Ruby in connection with the case.
The accused was produced before a court, which granted police a one-day remand for further questioning.
Investigators have also recovered a knife that police suspect was used during the incident. The recovered item will form part of the evidence being examined during the investigation.
The case has been registered at Police Station Rama Mandi under FIR No. 180 on the basis of the statement provided by the deceased’s wife.
Police are now working to establish the full sequence of events leading to the confrontation, including what triggered the dispute and whether any other person played a role.
Investigators are also expected to record statements from people connected with the incident and examine any other available evidence before completing the investigation.
Davinder Singh’s body is expected to undergo post-mortem examination at the Civil Hospital before being handed over to his family for the final rites.
The incident has caused concern among residents of Guru Nanakpura West, where news of the death spread quickly.
Police proceedings remain underway, and the allegations against the arrested accused will ultimately be determined through the judicial process.
