Jagraon, October 1, 2026: Two men were seriously injured after a group of people allegedly entered a house late at night in Kothe Aala village in the Jagraon area of Ludhiana district and attacked them, prompting police to launch an investigation.
The injured have been identified as Satnam Singh and Hanman Singh. Both were initially taken to Civil Hospital, Jagraon, where doctors provided first aid before referring them to Civil Hospital, Ludhiana, for further treatment because of their condition.
According to Satnam Singh’s account, he and Hanman Singh were sleeping inside the house when a large group of youths allegedly entered the premises after crossing the boundary wall.
He alleged that the group was carrying sharp-edged weapons and attacked the two men before leaving the spot.
After the incident, Satnam managed to contact his friend Amandeep Singh and inform him about what had happened. The injured men were subsequently taken to hospital for treatment.
Police received information about the incident through the 112 emergency helpline. Police Station City-1 has started investigating the circumstances surrounding the attack and is working to identify those allegedly involved.
Investigators are also looking into the possibility of an earlier dispute being connected to the incident.
Satnam Singh has told police that around two months ago he had an argument over the phone with a youth identified as Ashu. He alleged that threats were made during that dispute and expressed suspicion that the latest incident could be linked to the earlier disagreement.
Police have also received information suggesting that the two sides had a dispute during a religious gathering some time ago. Investigators are examining the sequence of events and the possible motive before drawing any conclusion.
At this stage, the claims regarding the identity and role of those allegedly involved remain under investigation. Police are expected to record statements, identify suspects and take further legal action based on the evidence collected.
The condition of both injured men remained a key concern following their referral to Ludhiana for further medical treatment.
